Research interests

Humans move their eyes up to four times a second and each of these eye movements poses challenges to the brain: On the one hand, visual, cognitive and motivational signals have to be weighed against each other for the decision about an eye movement and learning processes need to optimize eye movement control for the task at hand. On the other hand, each of these eye movements leads to dramatic changes of the input signals on the retina, which have to be compensated by the brain to allow a stable representation of our surround. I use psychophysical methods, eye tracking and computational modeling to study these challenges.
